April 2010 Newsletter

April 22, 2010

Dear Client,

Spring is in full swing! If the saying “April showers bring May flowers” is true, we should be rewarded with a beautiful abundance of May blooms! With daylight savings, you may find yourself spending more time in your garden. Mimi says planting summer bulbs like Gladiolus, Dahlias, Irises, Peonies, Cannas, Tuberous Begonias and lilies in between shrubs will give you a beautiful surprise because they are perennials and come back year after year. It is also a good time to mulch planter beds to retain moisture as it gets warmer.

On the same note of conserving water, we have been aerating lawns. This allows the fertilizer and irrigation water to get into the soil instead of running off of the compacted surface and washing down the sidewalk and into the street. Please give us a call if you would like to have this service done.

After aerating your lawns, we are implementing a different fertilizer combination that stresses the formation of a stronger and deeper root structure. When the roots are stronger, we can water less frequently during the warmer season.

Martin van Zeyl also advises to prune the heavy branches of your trees so they do not break or fall and cause damage to people and property below.

Robert is continuing to provide landscape plans for our clients that are re-landscaping or just updating a section of their garden. Give us a call if you would like a quote on a fresh perspective for your garden.

Lastly, we have included a comment and suggestion form on the backside of the return portion of the monthly invoice. Please let us know how we can improve our service.

Until next month, please have a great day!
